Voice to SMS

Hi Folks

My mate has just bought a Desire and is on the same network as me.
Now I must have added an app he hasn't as I have a microphone symbol on my text input screen which allows me to speak my message, but he doesn't.

Now I have had mine for a few months and have been adding and removings apps, but he is a bit of a technophobe and hasn't added any.

Can anyone suggest what I have done to make it work on mine that he hasn't? Is it a setting that we have missed on his maybe?

We are both on Vodafone and using Android 2.2 and software 2.33.161.2

I know the HTC IME Mod keyboard has that microphone on as standard (I have it) so not sure if you added the HTC IME MOD (or a themed HTC keyboard)?

I cant remember what it looks like as default as I havent had the standard HTC keyboard for ages.

Didn't the microphone key appear with 2.2? It's a bit gimmicky anyway.
