Voice to text when on a call.

My usual routine when texting: Open keyboard, click on mic, say whatever, unclick mic.

Issue when on a call, Zoom, etc. I can open the keyboard and click on the mic, but voice doesn't populate any text.

What do I need to change/understand?

That the phone only has one microphone input channel, the call/Zoom/etc is using it, and the keyboard isn't able to take control of it away from the other service.

I suggest just typing in these circumstances, or taking your Zoom call using a computer/tablet rather than the phone - though in that case do remember to mute before you start dictating texts! As for phone calls, I'm old-fashioned enough that I wait until the call has finished before going back to texting ;).
