Voice to texting

kiaoraAbbi

Lurker
When i voice to text - the screen turns off - the phone doesn't power to off, just the screen turns off . It didn't used to do this

I did a factory reset last week but the problem persists

Any tips PLEASE

It turns off and does not come back on again. But when It turns off i just have to do my tap sequence and it comes back on again.

Go into your display settings and set your " Screen Time Off " to either 2 minutes or 5 minutes. Just remember that your screen will stay on longer so you may have to put it to sleep by pressing the power button so it doesn't stay on and kill your battery . Does the LG have a Smart Stay option like Samsung? If so turn it on and the screen will stay on the whole timtyou are looking at it.

Unfortunately i ve tried both of those options already and they dont work . But thank you again for your suggestions .

Just for troubleshooting purposes, could you try a 3rd party texting app?
I myself use TEXTRA:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.textra&hl=en
I have no idea if this will make a difference, worse case scenario is you'll probably ditch the stock texting app & keep TEXTRA.
Pleas keep us posted.

Again thank you for your Textra suggestion - I've tried that - its a nice app - but the same thing happens with Textra - the LG keyboard and I'm now using the Google keyboard .

I'm just wondering - I'm using the Swype keyboard for all my texting - could it be linked to that?

Sorry to see you are still having problems. Try clearing the cache from your phone then turn the phone off and pull the battery for a few minutes then try it again to see what happens. You can usually find the option to clear the cache under Storage in your settings menu ( not 100% sure where the option is on an LG device but there are apps in the playstore that will do it too or you could manually go through every app and clear the cache from the application manager. ) As a last resort I would maybe try a Factory reset but you will lose all of your data including wifi passwords, homescreen settings , contacts , etc. If you do end up try a factory reset be sure to back up all of your data first .

So Smart Screen option is turned on?
And what is your screen off time set to?

That's so weird. I used mine for texting all day yesterday to test this, no issues.
