Help Voicemail (AT&T)... must use separate App?

Must you always use the Visual VM app to access VM? VM is not built as part of the phone app? Wait... there's got to be an app with that? Right? How do you longtime Android users access your VM?

Usually calling your own number will get you into your vm also pressing and holding number 1 on phone keypad usually works as well.

That I know, but after having visual voicemail on iPhone, (and other Androids, doesn't HTC have VM in the dialer app?) , dialing "1" is prehistoric, and using a separate VM app is akin to living in the middle ages.

I read that Android M will likely have VM built into the dialer. Anybody know when Android M is due for launch? (Gotta put that in my calendar)

You can also access your voice mail on the left hand side of the dialer app.

I am on Verizon, and can access my visual voice mail through their app, which is have I always accessed it.

I use YouMail. Simple but many options.

I am on Cricket and use Google Voice. Lots of cool features. I like having a second phone number to give out and being able to screen calls is a great feature.

had the same issue with at&t, they had to add a free feature to my plan that alllowed the vvm to function.
