Help Voicemail Notification ???

Got a voicemail yesterday and after listening to it the symbol in my notification bar will not go away. Tried powering off and doing a reset. Ive had this phone for a couple months with no issues
 
So you chose the option to delete voice mail and the icon stays? Sorry don't mean to sound funny!

Im with orange and as soon as i select delete after listening a few seconds later the icon goes.
 
Yes I deleted the voicemail and normally it goes right away after. When I pull down the notification bar it let's me clear all notifications except for voicemail. Ive checked my voicemail 3 more times just to make sure there aren't any more messages

do you have google voice? This happened to me before and I kept checking my google voice account which didn't have any messages. It wasn't until I checked my verizon voice mail that I found there was another new message. once I deleted that message, the icon went away.

just a thought...
 
Well after nothing else worked I decided to have my wife leave me a voicemail and after listening to it and deleting it the icon went away
