"voicemail pending" notification will not go away

Soon after upgrading to 2.2, I received a "voicemail pending" in the notification bar. I clicked on it and it dialed voicemail, which asked me to personalize and set up my voicemail (pin #, etc.). I did all that and now the notifcation will not go away.
Also, the "Clear" button is gone. The "Clear" button comes back if there is another new notification like a text msg or a new voicemail. Then you can press clear and everything goes away except for "voicemail pending"! When you press on the notification now it just dials voicemail which tells you that you have no new voicemail!
I saw one older thread on this which was unsolved. Does anyone know if this is a 2.2 bug? Any way to force clear the notification bar?

My device: Samsung Intercept - Sprint

Thanks

I had the same problem with the HTC EVO. There was no way to clear the notification and I had already checked and cleared the actual voicemail. I decided to call Sprint to see if they could help me. While I was on hold I turned my phone off and back on again. The pending voicemail notification went away! I told them I figured it out and hung up! I hope this helps and works for anyone else who has had this problem.

Thanks!

Yeah, something similar happened to me while I was tooling around with GV. Just my luck, I got a v.mail while it was turned off. Try logging out of GV (if you have it to begin with) and check the v.mail the old fashioned way. It may do the trick for you.
