Root VoltE on Zte Zmax

Does anyone know how to enable VoltE on this rom?
I flashed the 4.4.4 version with Band 12 on it.
Everytime I make a call, my LTE signal status switches to 4G.

On the metro version it does. It's not natively installed on the T-Mobile variant. I also have BNv2 which is supposed to have band 12 and voLTE active, but I don't think they got set up properly or something, because I sure don't have voLTE
 
First off, band 12 and volte won't work unless you live in an area where the network has them. Also, just flashing the system & boot partitions to 4.4.4 probably won't enable these. Your baseband version has to support this stuff too.
 
This is confusing because there are a couple websites that list band 12 in the frequency section of the specifications for our phone. I was under the impression that all zmax were able to take advantage of band 12. I would love band 12 because of the better reception inside structures, but I'm glad I don't have to scratch my head about this one yet because band 12 isn't available in my area just yet.

The network in your area has to have band 12 transmitters in order for band 12 to do any good. The same with volte. The network in your area has to have the capability. Why don't you check out a band 12 coverage map and see if they have it in your area.
 
I know band 12 has to be available. What I was emphasizing is that a couple websites list the zmax as being band 12 capable. It would be a feature of the radio wouldn't it? Not the rom or version of android, etc.?

On a happy note, I just checked the band 12 spectrum map for central FL and just recently T-Mobile made agreements with the owners of ch. 51 and band 12 is coming to central FL! WOOOHOOO!
 
Is there a way to extract the baseband from a Metro phone and flash it on a T-Mobile phone?

Edit: I just checked and I think they are the same version numbers already... I think...
 
I believe that metropcs/tmobile is starting to cover places with 12 band LTE only. because they are showing on the map 4g LTE in places like kellys island. i was there without signal all weekend. I am on the aicp rom. but i flashed my nandroid of stock 4.4.4 and it still didnt have signal. as soon as i got away from the island back towards sandusky i got signal again full 4G LTE
 
I also went to an area that was Band 12 only and didn't pick up a signal. I also haven't been able to get VoLTE to work and I know I'm in an area with VoLTE up and running. I'm running Metro Stock 4.4.4 B06

Is there any screenshots or proof of Band 12 and VoLTE working on the ZMAX? I'm starting to have my doubts it's enabled on any version of the ZMAX.

The hardware has the capability but it probably won't work without a system update from ZTE/metro/tmobile
 
when i was on stock metro 4.4.4 i got an ota update but they never told me what it was for. maybe ill try flashing it and see if it works. i found an app called LTE Discovery. it tells what band your phone is on and other network information.

That's the thing that got me. Many posters have been saying the Metro version of the phone already has Band 12 enabled, as well as VoLTE. I've seen this posted on many forums and comment sections. Yet, I have yet to see any proof. I fear as if there is misinformation out there and it spread out to the internet-world.

I hope I am wrong because one of the reasons I got this phone was because of Band 12 support and Tmo has yet to enable the radio for whatever reason. Once I heard that the Metro version had it enabled I flashed the ROM to my phone, but I have yet to connect to a Band 12 signal or make VoLTE calls, which is stated to be in my area according to the coverage maps.

So if there is any proof of Band 12 working on any version of the phone, I will be very happy. However, I am starting to believe neither version has it enabled and that both versions need the radio update to get the phone connected to Band 12.
 
uhmm people volte calls is already in service when u make a call its not going to tell u u on volte ....and yes band 12 is on metro , and lte discovery is an old app we discussed this months ago before even root . band 12 will make no difrnce right now when there is barely and band 12 ive conncted to a band 12 here in miami and i posted proof band 12 makes no diffrence in speed , it is only a stronger signal that goes through walls . deeper . speed on band 12 is actually slower so . go figure ,. people want band 12 but have no clue what is lol.
 
I for one am not concerned about speed. The lower the wavelength the lower the bandwidth. Band 12 was never supposed increase data speeds.

What I'm more concerned with is building penetration and increased coverage, which a lower wavelength performs much better. This is why I want Band 12. Band 12 will also exclusively be for LTE, which is why VoLTE is important. Whenever I make a call it drops off LTE. It should stay on LTE.
 
well as someone stated before all those progs are owned by the phone carrier same as wifi calling .thats why u dnt see wifi call on any cm build , those are exclusive to the phone carrier if you want your phone to work as it suppose then u need to stay on stock
 
I called metropcs multiple times , then finally someone said that it was enabled on the zte zmax. but they couldn't explain why i didn't have coverage on kellys island. they told me to call them from there if i do not have signal which is totally possible. hopefully with enough complaints metropcs will find that its not working on any phones.
 
metropcs website used to say "update coming soon" for the zte zmax, now it says "via MR in august 2015" does this mean we will get an update on stock rom? and if we do, how could we get this on any of the lollipop roms?
