Help Volume gone!

Can anyone help me. All of a sudden my earpiece volume has gone. I am getting notification sounds, my phone is ringing but I can't hear anything when I answer. Neither can I hear my music. I can however, hear if I insert headphones. Can anyone shed any light on what is going on by any chance?

May be your kernel? I had that happen with a kernel my phone didn't like.

Can you hear sound if you are on a call using speakerphone? If so, maybe its just a bad speaker in the earpeice???

your phone must think something is inserted in the headphone jack - there are apps to confirm this - yours might be bad

I think I must have had some rubbish in my headphone socket. After I had discovered that the headphones worked and took them in and out a few times, the volume miraculously returned! Thanks!
