volume issues

Hello... I seem to have an issue with the volume/notification settings on my Note 2. I swear I set the text notification setting to vibrate, but the very next text does not vibrate. It is like the phone has a mind of its own and turns the volume to silent. Am I crazy or is this a simple setting issue that I dont know about?

Have you checked out

(a) the 'Sound' option at the 'Home Screen / Menu button / Setting'

as well as (b) the 'Notification Settings' in the Messaging app 'Settings' menu?
