Help Volume problem using the 3.5mm jack

I am having a problem with the volume on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7510. When I plug in a head phone or Aux speaker the sound volume is extremely low; so low that I can hardly hear anything! I've tried plugging in to a with external speaker with amplification but get broken sound or will not work at all. Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks

There is a separate volume level for the headphone jack that seems to only be adjustable when something is plugged in (at least to me). Have you tried the volume buttons with the head phones plugged in?

I hope this is your solution. I only stumbled on it myself and I felt kinda dumb. In hindsight it was obvious, but was a little frustrating at first.:)
