Help Volume randomly goes down for no apparent reason

SVud

Lurker
HTC Desire 530
Android 6.0.1
Brand new phone, about a week old.

I've been having this issue were the volume on my phone will go down for no apparent reason. It lasts a random amount of time and will eventually go back to normal levels and go back down again. It happens when playing youtube, music and even when i get a call with or without headphones. At first i thought it was Poweramp but i noticed it happened on youtube.

It started happening on Day 1 but i did go crazy about getting my phone up to speed by installing and configuring everything just the way it was on my old phone (Desire 510).

I read somewhere that this might might be the volume level protection thing that warns users of volume being too high but i don't get any notifications. It feels like some sort of volume limiter/normaliser or ducking that's happening where the volume seems to have a threshold/ceiling that i can't go over.

I tried the following with no positive results:

1. Wiping the cache partition.
2. Uninstalling any apps that seemed to have an effect on audio
3. Uninstalled all the games i had (read somewhere that some games can mess with the volume)

The only thing left to do that i haven't tried is a factory reset but i was hoping not to have to do that one. I'm looking for any info possible on this issue and any help at all is really appreciated.

Cheers

Hiya!
I'm not familiar with that particular device but, do you have some sort of setting set up under the "Do Not Disturb" option?
Or perhaps under a profile option setting?

Hi! I don't see any special setting in Do Not Disturb under the Sound & Notification section or any other setting for that matter that would pertain to this issue. Also when you say Profile option, any other name for that option you speak of? Because i don't see anything that resembles profile.

I did a factory reset and the problem is still there fight after updating the phone apps and installing only MyMail & Poweramp. I'm starting to think that it has to do with Android OS
Sound & Notification

I also have an HTC Desire 530. I had noticed that i was not getting any notificartion sounds for phone calls or Instant Messaging. "What the $%@! man!", I would say to myself when I pulled out my phone to use and seen that I have missed several calls. Just gonna take getting used to how the HTC Desire 530 features work. Try these areas and make sure thery are set to how you want them.

... Settings
... Sound & Notification
... Do not disturb
... Priority only allows.

Once your in the Priority only allows Menu, you have options to review as to how your phone will notify you of any calls, or text.

**** OR THIS IS MORE LIKELY TO BLAME ***

Probably you do as i did and not noticed it for your own doing. When you put the phone in your pocket your holding the phone on the sides up towards the top; Your finger or thumb is turning down the volume as your putting it away. That explained my random no sound situation. I still do it all the time too. The buttons are flush with the sides, don't really have a feel to them. I actually have to look to mess with my volume most of the time.

ALSO

My Compass does not work anymore because of the way you have to remove the back to access the battery. I ended up bending the phone too many times trying to remove the cover that I believe the small circuit wire path got separated or pulled apart.. I gave up on trying to take the cover off

If you know how, then you should definitely think about R00T!N8 your phone. I usually never Post anything, but I hads the exact issue and that what i noticed. Don't let your finger make you reset your phone.

Bye Bye ;^D

Hey, it has nothing to do with me pressing the buttons on the side of my phone. I tried it again last night, turned on Poweramp, put some music on, left the phone on my table and volume would go down and back up again and go down.

I'll have to check the Priority only allows Menu again though.

And i can't remove the battery from my phone btw on my HTC desire 530

So i solved my problem by returning and getting a brand new HTC Desire 530. It seems that my battery issues had something to do with the volume going down by itself
