volume when making calls

I've noticed that when I use the regular 0-9 buttons to make a phone call (i.e., not to somebody in my contacts), the touchpad makes a lot of noise. It seems to me that this volume is not separately controlled and is matched to the noise of my ringer. Is there any way to adjust this? I don't really want to make a lot of noise and annoy people when i make a call.
Cheeers.

Odd. I turned "dial pad touch tones" off and then went to lunch and used my phone for a few things. I just called someone and the touch tones were back on. To get them off, I had to check dial pad touch tones and then uncheck it.
That sounds like a bug to me.

Yes, it is still off now and I have tried a few things that I did over lunchtime and none of them make the sound go on again. I think this is a bit like the car that starts when the mechanic sees it.
