Be sure to choose a good bittorrent client and a reliable VPN.
-- With a good bittorrent client you should be able to enable encryption to protect the data. Your ISP will of course detect there's send/receive traffic going on but it cannot actually 'see' what the content is when it's encrypted. It should also have options for enabling a proxy as you'll need to have one set up -- other bittorrents will see the proxy IP address not your IP address. Which leads to the next vital part...
-- A reliable VPN service. It's not just those VPN services that leak your actual IP address whether inadvertently or through ignorance, there's the issue of whether or not it logs their customer's activities. You're not getting complete anonymity if it's logging your usage. Also, stay clear of those 'free' VPNs, as the saying goes, "...if you're not paying for a product, you are the product."
-- Always ignore your local IP (192.168.x.x or 10.0.x.x) as in this situation it's completely irrelevant. The IP assigned to you by your ISP is always a focal point and you never want that to be a part of anything related to torrenting. Frequently monitor the IP in use by your VPN however as that's what the outside world detects. And don't forget that the IP address your browser is using isn't necessarily the same as what your bittorrent client is using (referring back to the proxy) so don't monitor things from your browser, it needs to be through your bittorrent client. https://www.cogipas.com/download-torrents-anonymously/
Edit -- I left out a pretty significant point. My entire comment is based on using a desktop computer. I don't have anything to add if you're specifically asking about an Android only solution.
