Help VPN apps not working

I've got an exhibit II running peach sunrise and I recently decided I want to protect my wi-fi privacy. I cannot get any of the VPN apps from the play store to connect over my wi-fi. They all hang when they try to connect and eventually give up. I've got an Acer android tablet that connects fine with VPN apps, so I know its not my wi-fi connection causing the problem.

Any ideas?

I have a great VPN Proxy http://www.vpnanswers.com/change-proxy-on-android/ it gives me stable connection with extremely high speed on my android mobile and laptop with the same account using different protocols.
