Vw keyless app.

I drive two different vw's two styles, two different years but thanks to great dealers only one key per vehicle. Only one locksmith in STATE does the keys and just for an "emergency" key he wants 100 for one and 200 for the other. If anyone knows anything I could do that would be great-dont want anyones elses cars-my car payments are enough thank you-just want an "o shit button" if necessary. I dont carry AAA because expensive-yah im cheap-any thoughts?

Have heard some apps (when combined with company and obviously monthly fee) can remotely open your car doors if locked outt and since onstar is not for vw, kinda looking for same basic concept

What state are you in that you can't get a key cut using an existing key? You shouldn't need a locksmith just go to an auto parts store and they can likely cut you a new one for a few bucks as long as you have the working keys

Is it because of how it is cut or the chip that is in the original blocks the antitheft from activating.

If it is the latter I suggest getting 2 keys cut from the original of each then find a way to secure the original key under your dash board. Removing a few screws and duct taping it comes to mind. That way the anti theft is pacified and you have 2 keys for each vehicle. Total cost should be under $30.

Edit
Looked up some pictures of vw keys they should be able to be cut no problem

Its the way it is cut. Its cut on the side-the fob (switchblade) key has the chip which is even more expensive-all I was looking for was a copy of a reg emergency key incase I lock keys in car but dealer only gave 1 key per vw-so if I lock keys, not gonna be pretty so will look into other options cause 300 for 2 keys without chips is insane thats vw :)

Ive taken it to auto parts stores, to home stores (home depo, etc) and noone can cut a side key -welcome to maine-land of taxes and moose

I see where you are coming from now, it isn't just Maine however it is the type key. Looks like $250 is about standard and you will need to take it to a dealership to be programmed before it will work, otherwise you will activate the anti theft and you will then need to tow your car to the dealership. Security has a high price
