Help VZW Kit Kat bug post

This is weird, but Im pretty sure this is a KK bug, or maybe my phone is getting faulty. I have noticed that I place the phone on the charger, and I check it 30 mins later. It only changed it 1%. I go into settings, battery, and it says that it is calculating the times and what not. If I do a reboot, the phone will charge normally with no issues, and it will charge as fast as it did when on JB.

Notification Bar? Oh yeah, on the left we see notifications, and on the right we see status. Hmmm maybe synonymous with Status Bar.

So strange, I just tried Knock Off in the Status Bar (not the pulled down notification shade), on the extreme left and right and in the middle at least 10 times total, and on my phone - the phone shutdowns the screen... I did not get a Date/Time settings display.

You can unload your home screen by moving some icons to another home screen (you have several). Also laying icons on top of one another will arrange them in folders.

If you are double-tapping somewhere on the Notification Shade (I think that's what it's called), expect something relevant to the thing to tap on to activate.

Am I off base here?

I meant the status bar...sorry for the confusion

Maps will show up in Battery because applications are modular so to say. Other apps can use any interfaces exposed by the Maps app and when they do it stats the Maps service up.

Windows uses similar structures. Those DLL files are just chucks of code that are exposed so any they application can use then (makes coding easier as developers don't have to reinvent the wheel). Executable files can also expose functions/interfaces to other applications running in different memory locations.

So for example, Location Reporting could be using functions in the Maps app.

Edit: Thought I quoted quoted who I was replying to, sorry. Sometime was wondering why Maps was showing up in Battery often when he want using it.

This may be a legit issue... yesterday in my car with the phone connected to BT, I attempted my first voice dialer initiated call since upgrading to KK. The syntax previously was Dial xxx xxx xXxX or Call Contact at Home ! Mobile... This time the phone could not understand my commands. Really terrible, where before 90 percent or better success...

I will try disconnecting/unpairing, and a few other experiments. I might try Googling and clearing the cache of the responsible software element ??? Then even a FDR if it comes to that. :D

Ummm, well, I went into the dialer, and the syntax doesn't even support the command: DIAL XXX XXX XXXX". I think I need a voice dialer replacement (if there is such a thing). FWIW: No problems with Google Search or Voice Mate processing my voice. Grrrrrr.

I noticed when trying to use voice commands on my bluetooth headset it doesn't understand me half the time. If it does get the person right it doesn't understand me saying yes

Exactly. Broken hard. One of the best features of the device when using BT in a car besides streaming music or Google Nav. Now, about worthless.

Ever since the update this morning, I've had major issues with my service...more specifically my mobile data. I normally stream Pandora on the way walking to classes with no issues. The service is not the best in this area; however, I've never had issues before. After the upgrade I found that I can't stream my Pandora hardly at all without it constantly going off and pausing. The mobile data in general is like non existent now in this area. I've had no such problems or issues before this update so I'm a little PO'ed. Wondering wtf is going on? anyone else having issues with their 4g?

Bumpmans3, try uninstalling Pandora and re installing.

If you back up your stuff you could try a factory data reset but I know that will cause you work and your settings for things will be lost.

Regardless of carrier, is the issue only in one cell tower area or everywhere? Could be they are fixing a tower or the tower is over loaded if specific to one place.

Regarding quiet mode, it seems it is doing what it is supposed to now not sure what changed at least for me. Although I do still wish it would allow for more than one schedule. My Bionic with smart actions I could set one for weekend and one for m-f. I do like to sleep in on the weekends so unless I want to keep changing schedules which is a pain, it's kind of annoying.

I'll guess you are on Sprint...
Naa, I'm actually on Verizon. It's just this immediate area doesn't have the best service by the university here.

Thank you very much for the advice. I've done this and to no avail. Also, it's not just pandora...it's like 4g service in general has just gone to shit (for lack of a better word haha). Not sure what's going on lol.

Try using Llama to manage your profiles, you can set it to be silent certain times/days, as well as many other things. It's basically the same thing as Tasker but free & much easier to use.

I haven't even tried quiet mode on my G2 because I already have my sound profiles set up in Llama.

I use Gentle Alarm for that. Check Amazon as it is sometimes the free app of the day; that's how I got it.

Patticake and bberryhill You both told me to check the same program. I will look into it. Looks interesting. Thanks both of you

It's one of my all-time favorite apps; I tried Tasker & was way too confused (although I think Tasker is probably more powerful & has a strong following on these boards with a lot of help) - when I discovered Llama & was able to actually figure out how to do things on my own, I was in love! :D

Stef7. I had used the dialer with Bluetooth in my car yesterday and it worked fine. To be sure, I did it again on the way home today using the "dial xxx-xxx-xxxx" syntax. It worked perfectly. My G2 is VZW with KitKat upgrade. I can't say what's up with yours.. Just letting you know it's not a bug I'm experiencing.

Not sure who makes the voice command app, all I know if I try to say send text to *** it does not work. All I get is invalid or can't understand. The calling command seems to work 80-90 % of the time.

I am on Verizon, and I'm not talking about LG VoiceMate, but the dialer that you can call up by initiating it with the bluetooth device or using the icon on the keypad.

I'm not that up on the bluetooth/dialing process. But this is what I did. My phone is paired to the Bluetooth in my Mazda. I press the "talk" button on the steering wheel. The "car says" my Bluetooth is connected. I said "dial xxx-xxx-xxxx". The car repeated the number and asked if it was correct. I said yep... it dialed. Is this anyway related to what you're talking about? BTW... I feel stupid saying "the car said"! LOL Just don't know what else to say, this early in the morning! Also, I've never opened up the VoiceMate app since I've owned the phone.

Wireless charging issue. Placement is no more or less sensitive, but now, when it reaches 100% it stops charging and doesn't re-initiate unless removed from the charger. When I get up in the morning it is at around 97% and has been "off the charger" for 4-5 hours.

Well, on JB, the wireless charging behavior was the same, charging would stop after hitting 100%, except the phone would still be at about 100% when I woke up. Hmmm. I think that's still the case after a few charge cycles.

smg65 - I appreciate that report. That suggests that without the FDR, perhaps something in the phone is causing a different path of execution within the dialer - because I can tell you, I know the behavior under JB, and on my device, that is not the case now.

That is the Voice command app. When I hit my call button on my bluetooth head set it opens Voice command not voice mate (which is LG's app) The Voice command app which is what I am sure you are talking about is what I am having problems with.
