VZW site glitch = $50 Thunderbolt

Holy crap! This morning I caught Verizon Wireless in a website pricing flub and scored! I got a new HTC Thunderbolt w/ the extended battery, the standard battery, and a stand-alone battery charger for $57!! The phone by itself normally sells for $150 when you upgrade!!

It was a screw up on Verizon's part, and I made them pay for it. A technical glitch prevents you from placing the order directly online, though. So you have to call in to a sales rep (*611) to complete the transaction. Log into your Verizon account on the computer and click Shop>Smartphones. Scroll down about halfway to the Thunderbolt. If it says $49.99, you're in business. Capture a screenshot here and then click the phone to go to the Thunderbolt spec screen. Check for the low price and get another screenshot (you'll need them). This is where the online transaction fails. If you click "Add to Cart" and then choose the line to upgrade, when you return the price will have changed to $249.99. So call up Verizon to tell them that you were trying to buy that phone, but saw the price change. After some formalities and emailing them the screenshots you captured, you should get the phone and extended battery for the $49.99 price plus tax.

Good luck! Looking forward to hearing if anyone else is able to get this deal!:D

Are you a new subscriber, or using an upgrade? For example, the $149 deal doesn't take into consideration a New Every Two credit if still on the account. So a customer who hadn't yet used it, and had $100 NE2 credit, would in fact, get the phone for $49.99 after that's taken into consideration. The site does take discounts into account when showing phone pricing once you're logged in.

The phone is still showing at $149.99 on VZW (and has most of the day when I had it up throughout on and off). I obviously am not logged in atm, so it's not showing adjusted pricing for my account.

I am using an upgrade. 149.99 is the upgrade price. The way it is listed is that the usual price is 249.99 and there is a current promo which brings the price down to 149.99 and the extended battery is included at no cost. Even the rep from the web sales dept. couldn't explain why the price was so low. But they were willing to honor it as long as I could prove what I saw.

If your line is the primary, and had an existing NE2 credit on it, it would've dropped the price down to it. In my experience, the sales reps through Telesales are...less than knowledgeable at times, but, either way, grats on getting it cheaply.

This error by VZW was also showing $49.99 for a small period of time last weekend. Saturday night I also noticed the $49.99 deal (but when you looked at the details it showed $249.99 less $100 but then showed a wrong price of $49.99. I then went through the process that The FlyerFlyon described and VZW is shipping my TB on Monday for a total cost of $20.99 including tax since I had a $30.00 upgrade credit available and also getting the extended battery.

The sales person I spoke to said it was a glitch but they were going to honor it since I found it on their web site.

This is exactly what happened with me.

There was indeed an existing NE2 credit on the account (although it was for the secondary line...the primary wasn't due til 1/12). But in every scenario, I never saw my upgrade price drop below $150 on the website. Also, both my mother and sister are Radio Shack employees and both said it would have been at least that much (and without the extended battery).
