Can not say for sure that most VZW stores are doing this, and my assumption is that they are not, but I just wanted to give a heads up that my VZW store (I am assuming corporate because it is the nicest one around) is taking appointments to come in and change your plan/buy a droid tomorrow. This may be something that they are only doing at the last minute because I got the earliest time of 6am and I only went last night around 7pm. I got to see a demo model too, looked pretty bad ass but the 3G wasn't activated so it was running off of wifi.
So, I would call or stop by your VZW store just to check - I got lucky because I work at 7:30am and now I don't have to worry about waiting in line or not making it to the store.
