Root [VZW] Unlocking CDMA to CDMA?

Hi everyone!
I apologize if this question has been asked before. I recently switched from iphone to android since I can no longer jailbreak, so I have a lot to learn about these devices!

I've been researching and coming across a lot of conflicting info. My question is: can a CDMA phone be unlocked to work with another CDMA phone?

I'm not worried about doing it for free; I'm totally fine with paying for an unlock code if need be. I see a lot of web sites that will unlock phones to work with gsm but it seems that I can't unlock my phone to work with another CDMA network?

I have a sprint htc one m7 that I would like to use on Verizon.

If this is the case and I cannot unlock it that easily is there another way involving root? Can I root and change the frequency to Verizon? And if so, would there be issues regarding roaming and lte...?

Sorry guys I'm just new to the world of android and trying to make sense of it all. Any info or advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

The thing about CDMA networks is the carriers have to approve of each device they allow on their network.

If Verizon doesn't have your phones IMEI in their system, it won't work.

So generally speaking a sprint device cannot be taken to Verizon, and vice versa

That's in contrast to GSM networks, which can go back and forth between them.

That makes sense, so would I be able to unlock the sprint HTC one for t-mobile or other gsm networks? And would it work fully in the US?

Can the phone be unlocked, yes. But it generally needs a code if it is locked and your carrier may not necessarily give you that code. You'll have to call them up to see if they will.
