w/Beats Headphones?

that just doesn't even make sense that on requires the other haha. i mean it's an analog output how does it even know, maybe it can tell the difference between the two ring and three ring headphone jacks but i doubt it can specifically tell they are beats or not beats.

i bet if anything its just a precaution to make sure the speakers can handle the amount of low bass beasts pumps out.

It was discussed a little here: http://androidforums.com/htc-one-x/509058-beats-audio.html

Maybe you don't need Beats specifically, but it suggests Beats Audio doesn't work with all earphones.

I just saw a phonedog un-boxing and it came with none beats ear buds but he makes a comment that the AT&T version might come with beats ear buds...

There's an article somewhere measuring the equalization results with and without Beats headphones. Bottom line, if you want Beats, you need Beats headphones.

Every speaker of every brand and model has a unique impedance curve (think, resistance vs the musical scale). That curve helps indicate how loud various frequencies (notes) will be. Equalizers are all about adding control of that.

Equalizers control power vs frequency, so equalized power vs impedance is important. Hence, the need to match with Beats headphones.

Here's a picture of a typical impedance curve that I grabbed at random -

so beats audio doesn't work at all without beats headphones...

wouldn't mind buying a decent set of beats for music and the such like if, a) any set of beats weren't over priced, and b) I didn't already own other expensive sets of headphones from other brands (sennhiezer) in my case.

not going to buy more headphoens when im not even a big fan of the sound they make, ( I have a mate with the highest spec beats you can buy and I was not overly impressed if im honest).

You weren't impressed because Beat's are rubbish, get a decent set of headphones - there's lots of alternatives and much better sound quality can be had much cheaper.

whilst i agree, it looks like the retail batches (besides the ones with Voda) aren't coming with Beats buds.

It's a bit of a missed opportunity here for both HTC and Beats. the potentially key selling points might be the whole music thing that differentiates itself from the likes of Samsung and Apple. yes, they aren't the BEST in the market, but to joe public, they're a step up from your STANDARD ear-buds and the perceived impression of them through clever marketing to the youth has been a success.

the more people you see walking around with those red cables and red "b" means they would be walking adverts to people constantly. And anyways, whats the bulk cost of the basic buds?

For a top of the line phone in HTC's catalogue, im surprised by default it doesnt come with the basic pair of BEATS, unless they're planning a HTC One XE? either way...missed opportunity.

Agreed, especially since all the other Beats handsets over here came with Beats headphones, why not their new flagship device.

heres a question, i know the beats option won't work with any headphones but beats but will this phone have the dolby options like the old desire hd and the like have?

if it has dolby then I will use that over the beats anyway.

I'm a big fan of Sennheiser myself.

yer sennhiezers are great, managed to pick up a set of sennheizer hd 598's online for the bargin price of

hi guys, walked in a voda store in the uk and the 1st initial 10000 batches of One X devices will have the basic beats buds. i think in store orders only (might also be online) will also get a free case up to

so.. let me get my facts straight...

-the back of the phone has Beat's Logo...
-they say.. the hardware and software must be used in conjunction to get the full authentic beat's sound!
-the phone has beats infused into HTC Sense.
-only a beats headphone can fully take advantage of the beats software

but...

no beats headphone?? only the first 10000 will get it.

I want to talk to the num-nutz that came up with that!!!

Sums it up Dan, aye.

However, the Beats notification appears when you use the standard out of the box earphones. They are the uncomfiest things known to man though.

If it's any consolation, my review model from HTC didn't come with ANY headphones at all! I wonder if the other sites that have already reviewed the One X got them (if not, did they make up their review of the headphones/audio quality?!).

I'm sure one of the sites in the review thread has an unboxing vid and they just got the standard headset.

I'd be happy enough with a free phone to review though :p.

I have to give mine back after Easter. Gone are the days where you get to review a phone over a long period of time, or even get to keep the phone! There are some exceptions, but generally it's a very quick turnaround these days.

I prefer to wait a bit to do a review, so I've had a good chance to play with it. It does mean losing a bit of web traffic but that's still the way I think it should be. People publishing a review within 2-3 hours aren't helping the consumer that may be paying hundreds of pounds to buy one, or signing up to a 2 year contract!
