W@ill Samsung ever bring back Universal Search for the stock S3?

Its been awhile now since Samsung took away the Universal Search feature in our S3's, so I was wondering if we will ever see an update to bring back this feature. I really miss using it.

How do you get Google voice to search your phones last website you went to or find photos in your gallery etc.?

They had to remove it cause of a court ruling, so unless that is reversed then no they wont bring it back

There's an app in the play store called aurora universal search and it functions just like the previous universal search...searches your contacts apps etc. Check it out.

The current app is actually called aurora universal search pro. Either way, i can't seem to get it to give more results from my apps. It's interesting otherwise.

If you look over on XDA you can probably find a old copy of the google search apk. I would post it here, but i don't thgink you can attach files to post. You just re install it and your good to go, course you have to reinstall it everytime you reboot your phone.

Given that Samsung's appeal over the unified search patent was successful I would of thought it should be ok to re-enable it on the S3 now ?

You would think. Now that higher courts are going over Samsung's appeal, it is nice to see them telling Judge Koh to get real and try again. I was hoping that at some point the true interpretation of the law would prevail.

From all I read Koh appears to be under quite a bit of pressure to sort her courtroom out.

If you're rooted, a guy on XDA has posted instructions which although you have to pay $4 for the Root Explorer app, work like a charm.

I tried a direct install on the S3 from a different source and it worked on my tablet, but not on the S3.

By universal search do that mean Home Screen > Menu button > Search?

This search searches my phone and I can set what it searches ie email, contacts, messages etc...
