There has been grumblings about not getting such and such update. Some have said they have been waiting long enough and that they should have gotten their update already.
So I did a few minutes of research and found the Android wiki Android (operating system) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and it has a time line of updates.
I have them listed below ...
The dates may be off by a few days, its as close as I know about.
October 22, 2008
G1 first Android device released
Android 1.0
6 months later
April 30 2009
Android 1.5
5 1/2 months later
September 15, 2009
Android 1.6
a litle over a month later
October 26, 2009
Android 2.0
a little over a month later
December 9, 2009
Android 2.0.1
So after 14 months there has been 4 updates to the Android OS. Thats an update every 3.5 months on average. To me thats a really good update schedule.
We all should be happy we are getting any kind of update. Some devices have to be hooked up to a computer and then you get to have an update.
Thanks for letting me rant.
P.S.
If an app doesn't work for you after an update, please check the market every so often to see if there is an update for it. Some apps made for 1.5 would not work on 1.6 and had to be updated.
P.S.S.
If you cant find an app in the Market that someone else says is there, it could be your OS version. People on 1.5 cant see apps made for 2.0. Be patient an update may be coming your way.
