Help Wake screen by pressing home button

I had the LG Optimus V, which is a great phone, but I really wanted a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Problem is, the LG Optimus V wakes up when I press any of the button on the bottom of the phone. The Slider, however, requires I press the power key. This is going to get extremely old extremely fast -- how can I make it wake up using the buttons on the front of the phone instead of only the power button?

I've found that if you slide the keyboard out about 1/2 inch and push it back (an easy 1-handed move), the phone wakes up.

There was an app called Nolock that accomplished this on some phones. YMMV.

i tried that method, seems to take as much time, if not more, than just hitting the unlock button at the top of the phone
