Help Wall charger asking for USB mount option??

Someone used my Fascinate charger (stock original Samsung) for their phone, an LG whatever non-smart phone. It's been done before, so there shouldn't have been any problems.

Except this time apparently -- seems the phone was dropped while plugged in and the cable end bent. Looks fine now - but when I plug in my Fascinate, my phones now asks for a mount option (music or USB).

Does anyone know what broke? Did it change the charging voltage? Is it liable to screw up anything?

I think its possible that your Fascinates charging port is damaged and recognizes the USB cable differently.

The point is, can you still charge the phone if you chose the "USB" option?

It does charge, but very slowly.
I had to leave it overnight to get a full charge.

Mine does that too periodically. If I hit the back button it goes away and seems to charge normally.
