Help wallpaper formatting question

Has anyone else noticed that that if you have a 1280 x 800 wallpaper the xoom makes you crop the picture then it zooms the picture when it sets it. Does anyone know what size wall paper, picture, the xoom is looking for in order to still have the slight movement when switching screen and that it won't try to zoom in on? I know on the incredible which was 800 x 480 it was a picture that was 800x960 it what it was looking for but it has 7 home screens. Just from the crop it makes you do it seems to be something smaller but it still magnafies the picture which makes it look grainy

I just use the stock wallpaper. All my pictures look like crap when I try using them as wallpaper. It works fine on my Droid X, but not on my Xoom.

what resolution are the photos in that you are wanting to use for wallpaper? were they taken from a mobile phone camera, HDSLR, screen grab? etc etc?

if the resolution is not so great, the imperfections will be magnified on the xoom screen. the key to using images for HD/high res displays is to get the highest res file you can.

These are hi Res professional marketing pictures, the point being is that the xoom makes you crop the image and then zooms that picture in. There must be size that the xoom won't do this to

Anyone found a resolution to this yet? I tried this with hi-res files from wallpaper sites, and it still made me crop. :(

Have you tried long pressing the top of the crop box, and expanding it? I thought my evo was making me crop pictures that were the right resolution, until I figured out you could expand the crop box.

Yup- it will let me expand the crop box, but it won't change the dimensions of it. So I can choose a bigger selection area, but not the shape that will allow me to select the entire picture, if that makes sense.

The only solution I've been able to come up with is to add space to the top and bottom of the picture for the xoom to cut back off when it is made into a background. Someone could make a xoom wallpaper app that selects the correct width to height ratio when setting the wallpaper, even if it temporarily added space to the top and bottom before setting it.

Now I see what it is doing. It needs that extra up top and below in case you rotate the xoom. Then you see the part that was chopped off when you were in landscape.

Same here. I'm sick of this chopping off in landscape. Oy.

I finally took my wallpaper into Photoshop and fixed it so that it works in landscape like I wanted it to.

There's a great thread with a photoshop template over at XDA. I've been too lazy to mess with it though.

much love for MultiPicture Live Wallpaper (it's in the market)

you can have 6 different wallpapers -- lock screen + 5 screens...

nothing is cropped out, don't need to add extra blank space -- the picture you choose is what you see on the screen.

also: app is FREE.
