wallpaper resolution changed to 1:1?

[Android Question]

my friends were trying to be cute and took a picture and set it as my wallpaper
unfortunately they're htc/apple users so they don't know how to use my phone and when I tried changing my wallpaper back, I can only crop squares out, and it zooms and looks very pixelated and ugly :/

i indulge in the way my phone looks so this is very disappointing, they probably don't know how to change it back or will make it worse lol




I have the Galaxy s3, does anyone know how to get the original ratio back? I restarted my phone and also flipped through settings to no avail :/

You can fix this a few ways. Best way is with a 3rd party app like Wallpaper wizard or you can do a screenshot of the picture on your screen perfectly sized, then use the screenshot as the wallpaper and it will look perfect.

This was a known issue with the S3

odd how this is a known problem, i wasn't able to find any information on this :s unless i just worded my search terms very badly ..


sucks how I need to install an app just to size my wallpaper :s
actually i'm using it now and it's not working as nicely as i liked the original method to crop T___T .. aaaaah i guess i won't be changing my wallpaper that often then

Look at the second option I provided, open up your gallery and take a screenshot of the picture you want (press the power and home button simultaneously) and then use that screenshot as the picture and it will work perfectly for you

the screenshot is the best method because you are essentially cropping it to the perfect size so it will fit, just make sure you are in gallery mode and with no notification bar or buttons on the screen when you do the screenshot. I am glad the application worked for you!
