Help Wallpaper size

What size/resolution should wallpapers be? I thought 1280x752 was the screen resolution but when I try to use other .jpg's for wallpapers and crop them down to this size, I still see them blow-up too large on the screen.
 
One of the beefs I have with ICS is the crop requirement for wallpaper. Regardless of the size of the image, you have to crop it and the image gets wonky. I had a wallpaper of a space pic that was something like 4500x4000 and it still looked like shit when I cropped it on my 300. I can dump the same wallpaper on my phones that have GB and it looks fine. If there's a way to apply a wallpaper without having to use ICS to crop it, I'd love to see/know of it.
 
I use Wallpaper Rotator. Though it may be designed for a phone, it works fine for the tablet. My wallpaper size is 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 to allow for scrolling.
