Wanna read something funny?

Current affairs in a way, but a better fit in the Android Lounge than the Politics and Current Affairs sub-forum, NiolK, so I've moved it for you.

I like how he keeps accusing google of being a copycat while ignoring that a chunk of the"revolutionary"; features of the iphone5 where on other platform first (like notifications that aren't terrible). Or how he calls flash "harmfully obsolete".

Though my favourite part is how he seems to think that a complete lack of competition is what leads to a company coming up with brilliant new ideas (like the previously mentioned notifications)

They've backed themselves in a corner. It's desperation suing people over 'icons' when phones had these (in a basic rudimentary OS) ever since they evolved with colour screens.

It's all a bit childish. Apple devices work great as slave to computers, Android devices are better working with the cloud. Pros & cons for both.

Apple are terrified now because of these three points:

  • There is a choice of handsets / tablets with Android

  • Apple products are overpriced - it's all Chinese under the hood

  • Apple customers find their overpriced product to be obsolete too quickly

Basically, Apples business model is being overtaken. People don't appreciate being taken for mugs, if there is part failure then you expect some great customer care, but no... unless you buy "Apple Care" on top of the extortionate price they charge - this is called "protection racket".

I think my fav is in the comments where he responds to some very mild dissent with
it's the fault of the fanatical geek scum who use their positions at retail stores to mislead would-be iPhone buyers into buying the geekier Android instead so that said geeks can go to bed that night feeling like they accomplished something
.

YIKES.

Valid points.

The article author seems to have some spurious statistics
study after study shows that Android users tend not to buy any app anyway, instead sticking with the free ones - the geeks because geeks never pay for anything, and the mainstream users because they presumably don't plan to be on Android much longer anyway, as again, study after study shows Android users' planned retention rate to be less than 50%.

Dunno about you but I buy apps all the time. I also don't plan on moving from Android any time soon. I think he's just pulling stuff out of the air. Suspiciously none of the comments I leave rebutting his statements seem get approved.

Ah, well.

Ah, well.

Not only do I buy apps all the time, sometimes I'll buy a pro version when the free version has what I need BECAUSE I'm a geek, and want to support the programmer.

Palm had icons well before Apple had the Iphone. Palm had the TREO phone. If HP bought Palm, then they should complain.
