Want to backup Galaxy S2 - can't figure out Kies

I've searched, read, restarted, reinstalled but I just don't get how I backup my phone.

I've got this far. So, what next?

-- Oh, I'm new, so can't post a screenshot apparently. Well, my phone is connected but I can't see anything to click that allows me to backup. --

Hi there

Can't be of much help, sorry, I just wanted to say that's not how KIES supposed to look like. Perhaps the Mac version is different ?
Here is an example how the interface should look. I found it online, but it does exactly like mine version on PC.

By the way, with all honesty, after upgrade to ICS, I had very little luck restoring my backups, so I don't bother using it at all anymore. I get my phone restored by google upon resets. Except for SMS and game scores, everything else is pretty much the way it was. From apps to messages in whatsapp...
So apps will get icons only, because they have to be activated online, but other than that, google restore is pretty good.

Perhaps try to find alternate tool?

cheers

There are a lot of backup apps in google play. They can change your apps to APK files so you don't have to redownload everything again. Gameloft, Fifa12 etc. data files are in the Phone USB storage area so you can copy them out.

There are even apps to save game progress although not every game. Angry Birds are definitely available. Some apps can backup the settings themselves. Even Watsapp can backup its messages.

Have you tried Allshare? It comes built into the phone... That screen doesn't look right, you should have some tabs up there, in that main screen, one of which is backup.

Allshare will be preinstalled on your phone, and you'll need to download it on your phone.

You might want to check it's connecting as the right device type too, when plugging the usb in.

You cannot do a backup wirelessly with kies, only with the cable (this took me ages to figure out) btw.
