All I want is a to do app which allows me to list tasks in different categories, assign them one of three priorities and maybe a date.

Then be able to tick them as done, list in category, priority order.

Any suggestions?

SpringPad is a nice app with pleasing aesthetics, although it doesn't have a widget.

Now that I think of it, SpringPad will be perfect for you.

Go with Astrid, but it takes time to get used to it I think. I hated Astrid. Chucked it. Tried something else. It sucked, went back to Astrid. Hated it. Chucked it. Tried something else. It sucked. Went back to Astrid. Grew to love it.

I just started using "Note Me" a few days ago. really like this one. it allows you to color code things based on categories.

I believe Got To Do Lite meets all of your needs. It's built to work with ToodleDo.com, but I believe it can also be used independently. It allows Priority, Status (active, etc.), Folder, Context, Tags, Start, Due, Repeat, Reminder, Notes and "Starring" of tasks.

It only has online sync if you have a ToodleDo account, but I believe it'll even work with the free ToodleDo account. The lite version doesn't support subtasks (full version is ~$3), but you also need a ToodleDo Pro subscription ($15/year) to have those online.

I suggest using astrid; not only is it well organized but you can sync it with rememberthemilk.com to edit and manage your tasks online as well. Very useful for quick input and control!

noodles - todo list is perfect. It can't do anything as far as dates, but its so simple and basic to use.

The paid version lets you make multiple lists. Also capitalizes the first letter of the first word in the sentence, not sure why he hasn't updated the free version to do the second part.
