Help Wanted to be nice so bought my bf n7... But it doesn't work.......

Hahaoya

Lurker
Good evening everybody,
Not shure if I'm in the right place but hope you can help...
As I said wanted to cheer my bf up so bought him nexus 7, came back from the shop ready to set it all up, pressed the on button to start the setup and it came up with a list of available wifi networks. We have a BT wifi account so no router at home and when we tried to connect to this network it didn't even display the website we normally have to go to to type in login and password....just said ''no, we can't display this page''. Tried to find answers on the web but its all about router setting which we can't change....help!!!! Bf not to happy and I wasted

I'm confused as to how your trying to connect.
Do you mean you do not actually have a BT Broadband line in your house hence no router but your trying to connect through a nearby BT openzone ?

Not in this flat,we're only here for a few months and for now we're using BT wifi. We went to Starbucks to check if it connects to their free wifi but it didn't, same problem, it looks like BT can't recognise n7 as a device or nexus is not able to connect to network with in - browser verification....

If I recall I thought there was a way to skip the initial set up? Although I don't know if it's possible to connect to a bluetooth network, but don't quote me on that.

And don't worry, you're a great partner for buying him a gift like that. If worse comes to worse, you can always find a public wifi access point and do the initial set up and go from there?
Can't ski the setup business...tried tethering as well but n7 can't even see the network...

BT as in British Telecom, not Bluetooth.

And no, on stock ROMs there is no way to skip the setup any more.

Just got my 32GB N7 last wednesday and there was a "skip this" or "do this later" don't remember exactly. And I did, then went back at setup my google account later.

Maybe, I don't remember that option when I activated my N7s last week but then again I only played with the stock N7 ROM for about 5 minutes each on 2 devices. Must have missed it.
