Wanting to switch phones

Ok, title sucks, but I should make up for it here.
I have A ZTE Imperial from Us Cellular. I also have a Kyrocera RISE using Sprint network. The ZTE is a no longer linked to any account via US Cellular. The RISE blows and has proven to be ineffective has a smart phone using Android or anything Linux.
I would like to know if it is possible to jump my service from the Rise to the Imperial, but with doing two things. 1)Not letting the phone company be involved. 2)transferring the network data over, since US Cell uses Sprint towers. Can this be done?

It can be done, but not without rooting your Imperial and setting some internal VM settings on it (very tricky stuff IIRC, including changing the PRL)... you might be better off getting a phone that VM directly supports. If you've got at least $100 to burn, some good choices are the Samsung Galaxy Victory, and the LG Optimus F3 (which I'm using now).
