Apps WAP Push support for Android devices

My team has been working on DM client for Android devices some time ago, and we tried to use WAP Push messages to send notifications to our client. However, those messages have been received but ignored by devices, and what we found in Android source code for 2.0 platform is that WAP Push messages are generally being discarded (except some kind of MYWAP? messages). However, this project has finished, we used other mechanisms, but I'm still curious whether things have improved in mid-time about Android and WAP Push?

So, my questions are:
- If WAP Push is still being discarded on so low level, can we still do something to handle those messages (I'm in doubt but never know)?
- Does anyone know if something has changed in mid-time with later Android platforms or there would be something improved in the future?

I dont know very much about WAP but I'd expect that there will not be any future support for it as it's an old protocol that is not very good from what I have heard/read.
