Watch avi files natively...sort of

I was looking for a decent program to play avi files on my x and made an interesting discovery. After loading a short test clip, I tried Rock Player, and it performed well. Then just messing around, went to gallery to see my other movies and just happened to long press on the avi file. A menu popped up and I selected edit/advanced just for kicks. Lo and behold it played! Has anyone else noticed this? Or tried this? Very curious!

I played an avi file on the stock player just to try it out and it worked perfectly. I added another avi file and it couldn't read it. I guess it has to do with the codec or something? I don't know....

I user Rock Player as well, always works natively for me.
