Watching Temp_Video file

Hello,

This is my first post here.

I own a Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830L, running on Froyo 2.2.1

Today I filmed my daughter's concert. When I went to look for the video file I couldn't find it on the phone. I connected the phone to my PC but still couldn't locate the file.

I went online and did some research on how to solve this issue. Turns out that if you pause recording and then hit the "back" button the file is "lost" or something, and cannot be accessed. Reading in this forum I found a thread that suggested downloading and running MiniTool Power Data Recovery, which I did. I found and recovered to my hard drive a Temp_Video file that I believe might contain part of the video I shot today. The problem now is that none of the media software I have installed on my PC will play the video (VLC, Quicktime). I changed the extension to make it an mp4 file, but that didn't work.

I'm not sure if what I'm posting here is enough for any of you here to give me some pointers on how to solve this problem. Let me know if you need more info. I really hope I can recover this video.

Thanks for your help.

I had the same problem. Some people claimed vlc would work. I tried avidemux and it failed to open the file. So I tried out this tool: Grau GmbH Hardware & Software Solutions - HD Video Repair Utility

It worked when I gave it a reference video (video shot from the same phone), but it only saves half the video unless you buy the license. After watching the video, I determined that I don't need the second half for the price they ask (29 euros), but at least I got half. If the author would only charge say $5 per video I'd probably buy it.

Credit to this person for pointing me to the tool.
