Waze Navigaion and Sound

I have been using Waze for navigation, and recently got a car with bluetooth. I think that it's trying to use BT for the directions, as I don't hear the instructions any more. I've tried the "route to speaker" setting both ways. Can ayone help with getting the directions to play again?

route to speaker on my galaxy nexus forces it to play through the phones speaker

what phone do you have?

probably get more help on the actual waze forums btw

The (after market) Bluetooth handsfree gizmo in my car works as advertised simultaneously while I'm navigating (with Waze or another nav app).

Does it change if you switch off your car's in-built Bluetooth?
(You shouldn't have Bluetooth on all the time anyway, imo).

Sound does work if I turn Bluetooth on the phone off. Haven't tried it on the car.

I like having it on so any call I get goes to my car's Bluetooth. I don't want to have to remember to turn it off and on all the time.

I don't want to have to remember to turn it off and on all the time.

I don't have to remember: my phone rings which reminds me to press the Bluetooth button. :D

But if you insist on keeping it on permanently it looks like you can't use Waze at the same time. So it seems you will have to choose which is more important to you: not having to press a Bluetooth button or do without (Waze) navigation...

While the phone is connected to the car, check your bluetooth settings on the phone. Make sure it's setup for phone connection and media streaming. Media streaming is the setting that your most concerned with so if it's not connecting then you need to see if your car supports media streaming. Another quick way to test this is to stream some music from your phone to your car. If your hear music, then everything is setup correctly and it could be a setting on Waze...

I can deffinately stream music in my car, but I'm not so much worried about hearing the Waze directions via bluetooth as I am hearing them from the phone's speaker while listening to the radio in my car.

You're worried about hearing the Waze directions? Turn them off.

I think the OP doesn't want to turn them off but instead wants to hear them over the phones internal speaker, not over blue tooth.

I don't use blue tooth, I just plug my phone into my stereo with a 1/8 headphone jack cable. I hear the Waze directions over my stereo speakers. If I use the option to route all sounds to the phone I get no directions at all. Maybe it's a bug and you should try contacting the developer.

To each his own. I like to have the bluetooth on so when my phone rings and I can anwser it from the steering wheel. I don't like having to fumble to get it out of my pocket and answer it, let alone then turn on BT.

When I have my headphones in and use "route to speaker", I hear them on the phone's speaker. When that's unchedked I hear them on the headphones, so that works as I'd expect. BT seems to work differently.
