WD-40 got inside my phone.

I got a huawei U8800, which for some reason, the creators thought its a good idea to GLUE the factory screen protector to the screen.

So I used various liquids in order to try to remove that glue, the list varies from soap, WD-40, olive oil and some other stuff.

I am not sure, but chances are that the liquid that got inside is the WD-40, which DID clean the screen from the glue, but now the phone is filled with it from the inside, and even if the phone is flipped upside down, THE LIQUID KEEPS GOING UP!

the phone functions, but it looks horrid, EVERYTHING WORKS, but the screen looks like it has a bubble bath theme to it.

what do I need to do? is the phone screwed? can WD-40 dry up?

this is the second phone this month that something has happened to it, the first one was a cobalt with an extremely small ram amount, which caused it to malfunction after several minutes.

wasted $500 on phones this month...

I don't think the wd-40 will dry up, but next time try a hair dryer to soften the glue.

It won't dry, but you can try to put the phone in a bag of uncooked rice, it may help to soak up some of the moisture. Also, in the future, you should avoid spraying any type of liquid on your phone. Instead, put a small amount if the liquid onto a soft cloth, enough to make it damp but not dripping, and wipe it.

uncooked rice for as long as you can (days, not hours).

As you can see the liquid, you can try using an air duster can spray. But be careful as it is compressed and will chill the surface with prolonged spraying and cause condensation.

And, ya, liquid applied to a phone is not a great idea.

If you've given up, with the battery, sd card and sim card if it has one removed, drop it into a bath of distilled water and about 20% isopropyl alcohol. (so, 8 ounces of water, 2 ounces of isopropyl, or double both if you need to)

Wait for the oil to form on the surface, skim or spoon it off.

Don't draw the phone up through the oil slick.

When no slick on surface, turn phone over.

Repeat until no more slicks form.

Then a very fast isopropyl alcohol bath. A few seconds, maybe 10.

Then towel dry, loosely cover with wax paper if there are holes big enough for rice to get it, and dry in a bowl of rice. If you can find any desiccant material or packages locally or online, even better.

Best luck!
