Help Weather App that doesn't auto sync

I apologize if this has been addressed, I cannot find it specifically so I am going to ask. I am trying to find a weather app or widget, similar to the Accuweather app that was on my GS2. It did not automatically go get the weather you had to click on the refresh arrows. I liked this very much. I have tried installing the current Accuweather app but it syncs based on the time schedule you tell it with the least frequent being an hour. Since installing this app I have noticed a rather large change in my battery usage. I had not had the "cell standby" issue that others complain about until after installing this app. My phone would last over 24 hours per charge, now running under 18? Just from syncing temp once an hour? I don't think that makes sense. I have uninstalled it, but will have to wait to see what affect that will have.

I only occasionally want to know the temperature, I live in the desert and "hot" is sometimes as accurate as I want to get. Finding out it is 118 instead of 115 is NOT really that important.

So in recap what I am looking for is a simple weather app or widget that will let me check the temp when I want, and not all day long.

I use Weatherbug, you can set the refresh rate to as long as 6 hours and you can tell it not to update if your battery is below a certain percentage.

But it sounds like you don't really want a widget, you just want an app you can open. The whole point of widgets is that they update periodically. Probably any weather app would do, just open it when you want to check the weather and turn off all notifications and don't use any widgets.

BeWeather can be setup to only update when opened. You'll probably also want to turn of the Notifications/Temperature in the settings as well. This app has some of the best radars too if you're into that stuff.

There is a free version as well, but since that has adverts, I prefer the paid version.

I am going to try both of the above selections and see if that will please me. I am so picky. ;) I hate it when I find an app I like and then they update all the things I like about it, until it is not the same program any more. Why can't we leave well enough alone.
