weather refreshing

Hi, I got one of these weather/clock apps free at android market and it works great but im wondering what is the best weather update timing.. 15 minutes, half hour, 1 hour, 2 hours and so on.

*What would be the best..considering like when I hear the rain drops on my roof and want to check what the weather is on my phone.

*I would go for a weather update every 15 minutes but would that whore my battery life, or I could set 15 minutes and it would barely even matter..

The best time intervals I think would be for every hour. As well as you could have it set to refresh when you open the application. Mine is set on one hour intervals. "Set it and forget it".

OP, it depends on how much of the battery you're willing to "give over to it". I have mine set for 30 min, and would go 15 if the particular widget of my choice allowed it. I figure that I already have enough stuff accessing the net, that "what's one more?". I also have an extended battery to help get me through the day as I use my phone a LOT. Set it for the most often, and leave it for a day or two and see if you notice a difference in battery life. If you do, scale it back to a more tolerable level. If not, leave it where you want it.

I set mine on manual, click on it to get current weather when I want to know. I might check it 2 or 3 times a week. I'm normally at a PC with a weather widget on its home.... or near a window so I can see how inaccurate weather apps really are.

I usually set mine for every two hours for weather update and check manually if I want current status. If I need to know what's going on outside at that moment, I tend to look out of the window. (Sometimes the old school approach is best )

tcat007, I've found the weather indicator that is part of the Smooth Calendar widget is pretty close to spot on. I compared it this morning to an outdoor thermometer, and they were within a degree or two of each other.

You're right. I also use Simi clock. I had the calendar and the weather widget for Simi next to each other, and confused them as the same widget. Good catch.
