Weather widget now has calendar?

I guess for the new year, the calendar has been added to the weather widget. Any way to delete it from the top left corner? See attached pic.

It was a setting I turned on.... and promptly turned off.

Press the widget.
Menu button > Settings > Event notifications.

I checked my phone yesterday and it had the calendar in the corner of the weather widget, which I was rather happy about since I had removed my calendar widget to make room for something else. Now today it is gone and back to the previous screen. What gives?

Apparently it is just a notify for the first of the year. Check out the settings of the weather app and then Event Notifications. Choices are: New Year, My Birthday, Contacts Birthdays.
