I noticed WeatherBug Elite was updated in the Market the other day. I have WeatherBug Elite from Amazon's App Store (I installed it when it was free for a day). The version in Amazon's App Store wasn't updated like it was in the Android Market.

However, today, I can't find WeatherBug Elite in the Android Market.... Can anyone else find it?

I can't find it either, but I'd imagine this is just temporary for one reason or another.

Yeah noticed the same here as well. After I updated the app...and then used it...the updated version kept starting a "LocationService" in the background that it never did before...a 14mb service no less.

So I uninstalled and then went to get it again thinking a reinstall would fix my issue...and low and behold the app was gone from the market place. When it returns I will be trying it again...but if their "update" is going to add needlessly running services to my device I will probably have to move on to another weather app.

Looks like I can see it again in the Android Market.

Now, I wonder if / when the Amazon App Store will show the updated version. I assume it works just like the Android Market, once you buy (or install a free app of the day), you will get updates for free...

Its in the market now they have gotten rid of the bad stuff and new version is 2.5 351 its working just fine on my droid x

Yeah, I see it now. Now, just need to wait and see if Amazon makes version 2.5.351 available. Currently Amazon has version 2.5.335.

Their "LocatorService" still launches in the background and stays there unfortunately.

I have since switched to MyCast Classic and its the best weather app ive used to date...sorry weatherbug.

Seems as if Amazon's Apps store barely gets updated (the apps from it). kind alike angry bird seasons, it hasn't been updated yet either :(

I got this app through the Amazon app store when it was the free app of the day. Every time I try to launch it I get an "unknown error", and it crashes. I guess it's worth what I paid fir it.

AppBrain keeps showing an update available to WeatherBug Elite. Of course when I try and update it it brings me to the Android Market to buy it. I might have to hid the update in AppBrain so my ODC doesn't go crazy ha ha (I hate seeing an update available and not be able to update it because Amazon doesn't update it in their store).

Same here. I just clicked on the X in Appbrain to skip this update.

This has finally been updated. I'd sure like to see WeatherBug updated though.

It sort of bothers me that Amazon hasn't received the updated version of Weatherbug Elite. Shouldn't take this long.

I just checked the Amazon App Store and Weatherbug Elite is now updated to version 2.5.359. The Android Market version is 2.5.358, so looks like now Amazon App Store is ahead of the Android Market....

Question regarding Weatherbug Elite. Is the only option for receiving weather alerts is to be forwarded to the web for details?

Also is there an option to select the notification tone for alerts?

I have them both installed on my Droid Turbo. I prefer WeartherBug Elite. I look at WeatrherBug when they add another update.

I'm not understanding about your concern of the free version overwriting the paid version.

I recommend that no one ever auto updates any app.

Gone. I still have Elite on Acer tablet. Read updates before downloading. All WeatherBug was adding was social nonsense.

Quickweather, another weather app that used to use Weatherbug, NOAA, and Weatherunderground all in one app, dropped Weatherbug since it had become flaky. WU was the old computer site, not mobile, and could get a jet stream map there. Same for NOAA.

I know this is an old thread. I'm posting it so that those who search for this in the future will find it.

If you bought Weatherbug Elite, you can get it by visiting this direct Google Playstore URL:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aws.android

After the app is installed, don't leave the install screen. Click on the Menu button and uncheck Auto-update so it isn't overwritten in the future by the free app.
That link took me to the free version of Weatherbug, not the Elite version. I had purchased Weatherbug Elite.

A note about the link provided:
It will only work if:
  • You previously purchased Weatherbug Elite
  • You are signed into Play in your browser.
Otherwise the link will not work. For apps like this where folks that purchased apps no longer available to the general public, you can usually find them by going to your purchase history in Play in your browser. On the top right of Play, click the gear icon and choose My Account. It will list your payment methods and all of your Play purchases in chronological order.

Odd note, WB Elite was the first app I paid for for Android on July 13, 2010. Pretty good since nearly 5 years later I still use it everyday.

Weatherbug Elite started to act 'goofy' past several days. First home page would state temp "-15 Deg" while the temperature was in the 80s. A few days later, it gave a temp closer to the truth, but still different that the free Weatherbug and it does not provide other data listed by the free version (humidity , dew point). Has the developer abandoned the 'Elite' version?
(I do not have an older version of APK and I could not find "uninstall update" under 'Apps' tab of settings.)

I use Weather Bug Elite. The most recent version is 3.0.169 and is listed in the About page. I don;t recall any updates after their announcement.
