Web access

I've been in several situations where the phone works fine, but there's no web access. How can there be 3G access for phone calls but not for the web?

Just because you have a 3G capable phone, doesn't mean you have a 3G data connection. In some areas (where I have voice service) I get a 1G data connection or a 3G data connection or no data connection. It just depends on the capabilities of the cell towers in the area and the roaming agreements that your carrier has with other service providers. On Sprint about the only time that I have a voice signal but not a 3G signal is when I'm roaming.

Thanks Razz, didn't realize 3G data was different. On the other hand, there have been times that I've had a 3G data connection on the phone but not on the iPad (both using AT&T), not sure how that happens...
