web address not avail

my energy provider suspects I cannot view pdf files because I dont have javascript on my Samsung tablet. Is there an alternative to javascript which might be on my machine or how do I download javascript for a tablet with android.
Michael

Which browser are you using? Javascript isn't normally installed separately, it's essentially part of the browser.

Incidentally javascript is nothing to do with viewing .pdf files but it may well be involved with the download process, depending on how the web page designer coded that part.

Probably why you can't view PDFs is that you don't have a PDF viewer installed, e.g. Adobe Reader.
JavaScript is something that just about every browser has built-in, nothing to with PDF documents.

I dont know.all I do is select internet and it goes to my home page but I dont know if it is like internet explorer.i have a samsung 10.2 running android 4.2.2 and am not familiar with a tablet but used a windows laptop.i do have adobe reader installed.it was my energy supplier who suggested javascript because I cant view my pdf bill after I have downloaded it.that is when I get the message.web page not avail.I am sorry I am such a novice at 67 with tablet but my forte was with IBM mainframes from the 70's

I am a novicenon this samsung tablet running android 4.2.2.all I do is select internet and it opens a browser but I dont know what it is.how do I tell.I go into my energy suppliers website and select to view bill and it immediately downloads the pdf to my tablet but when I go into the download to view pdf it tells me web address not avail.
sorry Michael

You need a PDF reader as suggested earlier. Just install one from the Play Store and it should open your downloaded PDF when you tap on it.

As I suspected (and others agreed) it has nothing to do with javascript. I thought perhaps the PDF didn't download at all (which may have been javascript related) but since it does download then all you lack is a PDF reader - which is easily solved :-)

John, I maybe didnt put it in mypost to you but I have Adode Reader installed.should that not work?
Michael.sorry for being an idiot
many thanks

It should work.

Perhaps the app preferences have got messed up. Go to Settings>Apps, tap on the menu icon (top right) ant choose "Reset app preferences" then try to open the PDF again and see what happens.

At the very least you should get a dialog asking you to choose an app to use, or maybe it will "just work" :-)

hello again John.didnt work.when I logon to scottish hydro to view my energy bills, it asks me to view pdf but it immediately downloads the pdf.when I go into downloads and select the pdf I get the following.
web page not available.
content://com.android.htmlfileprovider/MyService/NoScript.aspx
the energy company say it is not their problem and it was them who mentioned javascript.
I am not savvy enough to resolve this myself so hope you can.my other option is to go back to paper billing according to SSE.
as I said I am 67 and worked with IBM mainframes 360 and 370! old hat very
thanks for all your effort it is much appreciated
