Help Web video playback problems

ifb-online

Android Enthusiast
I'm experiencing problems with Flash video playback in the stock browser. I have updated to the latest available firmware and am running Flash Player 11.1. The problem is that a few minutes into a video the playback pauses and sometimes stops but the audio usually continues but there is an echo.

YouTube doesn't seem affected as it seems to have its own player via the YouTube app.

I got so frustrated I did a factory reset and reinstalled everything but the problem has not been fixed. Playing the same videos on my HTC Desire Android phone or my laptop PC results in smooth and faultless playback.

I have placed a support enquiry with Archos, but in the mean time I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem.

Fixed!

You need to change the UAstring setting in debug mode from Android to Desktop. To do this type the address about:debug (nothing happens) then go to the browser settings menu and click on debug and then UAstring.

I thought it was fixed but the unit continued to crash unexpectedly. I have since had an exhange unit and although this one works appreciably better, it still reboots unexpectedly while watching web streams (like BBC iPlayer) to the Flash player, regadless of UA String setting.

Give Filmon a try. It works fine on my Desire, although on my tablet the menu doesn't scroll properly. They are working on an update.
