Help Weird Background Font issue on desktop and home screen

Lurker
I tried searching and the only similar thread I found was this:
http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus/471967-weird-home-screen-font-problem.html

A couple weeks ago I noticed I couldn't read the title of any apps on my desktop on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (for Verizon). They were all completely illegible. The same for my agenda widget and clock widget. However, if I long press on either the agenda or clock, the fonts are legible and I can read them again (until I let go). I don't have many apps at all and use the Antivirus (I'll have to look but I think its AVG or just Antivirus - the one with the pill icon) regularly. I removed the widgets last time and rebooted and it seemed to work itself out.

Two days ago I noticed the same thing is now back. I'll have to take a screen shot and post it - hopefully it makes sense what I'm writing... I noticed now that even fonts/titles for the apps in the home screen are illegible like the ones on the desktop.

I tried rebooting a couple of times and that doesn't seem to fix anything. While on this topic, now I notice the phone takes a lot longer to turn on. Either turning it off and back on or waiting a while or even removing the battery etc. I see the graphics display while turning on and it appears to restart about 9 times before it finally goes to my desktop.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Sorry if its covered already but I tried searching and couldn't find a resolution. Thanks in advance.

Well, I finally figured it out (I think). I spoke with a tech at the Verizon Store (they wanted to simply do a factory reset which I was against because I wanted to actually figure out what the actual cause was)....
He suggested uninstalling apps one by one and seeing if that changed anything.

I'm not sure which one it was but the font problem went away after I turned the phone off and then back on after I uninstalled Task Killer, Easy Battery Saver, and a clock widget on my homescreen.

I'm happy the font issue is fixed so I can now read all the titles of the icons on my home screen /desktop and menu.

My only concern is that the boot process still seems to take a while. I watch the google animation startup screen transition about 8 or 9 times before it finally turns on I can use the phone. It used to only go once or twice.

I guess boot time would largely depend on how many apps you have set to start on boot-up. It's a trade-off of fast boot time vs. convenience, I suppose.

Of course, even at 8-9 boot animation cycles, it's STILL faster than my OG Droid at booting up... so even a slow Nexus is better than my old phone on a good day and I'm a happy camper with that :)
