Weird camera light exposure glitch?

I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or software issue, but I was using the front facing camera and was tapping the screen to change exposure or focus. I then switched to the rear camera and the light exposure of the rear cam got stuck where the window in my room would stay extremely bright and wouldn't automatically catch the exposure so that the camera would be able to see out the window, because the light from the window was too bright and wouldn't adjust. It was like the exposure got stuck to where you could only see the inside of the room or dark areas of the room. I fixed it by changing the camera mode to "camcorder", then changed it back to the picture mode. I am not sure if the camera in my phone is defective or is just a glitch associated with the software application.

Another issue I have with this cam is that the auto focus doesn't work well if you're not in very good lighting conditions, it's mostly a problem with the camcorder focusing being slow or unresponsive. The auto focusing in picture mode works better and faster.

No idea on the first problem, but

Autofocus works by contrast, and in low lighting there's low contrast. Complaining that autofocus doen't work well in low light is like complaining that water is wet. The only type of autofocus that works as well under low light conditions as under bright light conditions is sonic focus, which doesn't depend on light. (The fact that there's a difference in autofocus in the same light in picture and video could be due to the app.)
