Help Weird Intermittent Screen Blank/Lock Problem

bascherz

Newbie
The following problem occurs on both my and my wife's Droid2 phones, both running the latest 2.2 Android (neither is rooted). On occasion when the screen blanks, either after timeout or by pressing the power button, the screen becomes touch-insensitive and can also not be revived via the power button. Repeatedly pressing the power button I can barely see the lock screen digital clock on every other press, so I know the phone is still running. But once it gets into this mode, I have to pull the battery to wake it up.

Is anyone else seeing this problem? I know it's not just my phone because as I said it happens to my wife's as well (and she's running totally different apps than I am).

Seems to be a common problem. Sometimes attributed to apps (especially antivirus or task killers), sometimes written off as a problem with the phone, some people say if you do a factory reset, it clears it it up... I'm sure others will chime in with some better advice, I just wanted you to know you're not alone haha.

I have had the issue from time to time, haven't been able to nail down a reason. Usually waiting a few minutes will fix it, or doing a reset by hitting Shift- Alt- Del on the keyboard.

Same issue here. Sometimes it comes back and works normally and sometimes it doesn't. I have missed calls because I couldn't get it to respond to anything.
