so i use my droid in the mount as not just GPS but also for music center. its perfect except when i plug it into the 12v charger it makes a weird noise... anybody know how to fix this?

sorry i wrote that as i was leaving a class. please let me elaborate
cell phones give some sort of feedback that speakers pick up on... the same thing happends in my dorm room when my speakers are on at all. and the phone comes too close to the receiver. but in the car the problem only persists when i need to charge my phone.
my car charger is hooked into my droid mount which sits close to the console
i tried taking the phone out of the charge. and playing music and that worked fine... but then when i plugged the phone in it started making that noise
it's feedback but VERY obtrusive.
i simply cannot stand it
please help me?

Try moving the mount around. You've probably got it right over the connection to the factory antenna.

tried that! the noise persists only when plugged to the car charger. what could be causing this??

well, since you moved the mount, my guess is that it's actually the 12V outlet that's causing this. In some cars, a bad ground can cause weird radio sounds. 12V outlets usually have some of the flimsiest, weakest wiring in the car. Do you ever use any other 12V accessories on that outlet?

yes. i still get the noise. my friend gave me a suggestion, of detracting some of the electro.mag. energy with a piece of tinfoil
sounds like that would be a good start
similar concept to the spark plugs with the resistor built in so they don't cause a pulsing noise to come through your radio/instruments
wonder if there is a better way to ground that 12V outlet - do you have any other 12V power sources in the car to try?

If you still get the noise with the engine off, then it is not coming from the ignition (spark plugs, etc.). 12vDC from your car battery is a very clean supply... no electrical noise, so your phone is picking it up from something else, or possibly generating the noise and feeding it back through the supply.yes. i still get the noise. my friend gave me a suggestion, of detracting some of the electro.mag. energy with a piece of tinfoil
Can you try your phone is another car to see if you get the noise there? That would help narrow down the source to either your phone or charger cord (if you still have the noise) or something else in your car (if you don't).
