Help Weird Signal Problems on my SGSII

I won't go into any complicated details. Too bored to type.

My room is a dead spot in our house, I only get one bar of signal or sometimes none. When I lose my signal, it automatically switches to Emergency Calls Only(ECO) as usual. When I go outside to get some signal, it still stays @ ECO even if I have four full bars of signal. Resetting the phone doesn't fix it.

I tried another carrier SIM to see if it is already a hardware issue, but the other carrier works. So I stayed in the living room for more than 3hrs to check if I will lose signal. It seemed fine already so I went back to my room. Then BAM! I get ECO again.

I only get out of ECO when I change my SIM card and it's a pain in the arse to always carry a spare sim and change it.

Any help?

The obvious answer Space Badger, is that your carrier has a really rubbish signal and that the other carrier has a better one. Changing your modem could help particularly if you are using a European modem, i.e. MS2, as opposed to one more suited to the Philippines. See paragraph 2 of the Modems - Dummies Guide.

I'm using MS2 currently and will probably switch to the modem w/c comes with DXLSD(4.1.2 for the Philippines).

I really don't know why, but to get out of ECO, I need to change carrier sim and wait for it to get ECO as well to use my original sim.

You could try the procedure laid out in the Dummies guide I mentioned previously. Try setting your Network mode to... GSM only and then follow steps 1 - 5 that are shown, "after installing a new modem".

Still nothing ironass, still need to change carrier sim to get out of ECO.

OK, Space Badger... lets eliminate the obvious. Since you have not reported this problem before and it appears to be a very recent thing, have you checked that there is no problems in your area with your carriers masts/s?

Since your phone operates normally with another carriers sim card, this would seem to be a carrier signal problem and nothing to do with your phone. Try inserting your sim in another mobile perhaps.

Well, SIM Cards work on other phones. As I see it, it's probably a hardware fault already.

Nevermind this ironass, will have a replace unit soon. :)
