Help Weird static while listening to music through earbuds?

On Saturday, I got a new Lg Volt, today around 12 p.m., I played music and heard static or like bad quality sound. I checked if it was my ear buds with another device and worked fine. I don't know what I did and I didn't do anything with the headphone port. Any ideas what it could be?

update: I just learned that not all devices and earbuds/headphones work together, still I can't replace the earbuds yet, so any ideas would be apperciated

unless you are trying to use a set of earbuds with a mic built in, then you're wrong, all ear buds are created equal. They will work in all phones. If you are using the ear buds in another device and you bend the plug and jiggle the wires and get no static, then it sounds like the phone needs to be replaced.

If it has a mic then yes, there are 3 different wiring systems used for generic android, iphone, and some Samsung models.

I'm betting you don't have then firmly plugged in.

Also apple proprietary hardware. I tried plugging my friends ear buds in and they don't work.
